Just wondering what everyone is hanging out for?
I've sold all my osr, 20% feedwheat 10% feed barley all gone before xmas.
Nothing now sold.,just wish I had a crystal ball.😄
Not to sure now what will get me to open my grain store doors :scratchhead: :scratchhead:
If I was in your position I would open the shed doors climb to the top of the heap with my favorite tipple and bask in my own glory while i worked out at what price would the heap ensure the budget re income from the crops planted for harvest 20 20 was exceeded, then trickle it away. ho ho

more ...... i think 250 could happen (i will sell before that though).

no crystal ball required this year, it was clear harvest estimates were miles out for most growing cereals last year or listening to other farmers on here over the last 12 months plus

sadly for many even these prices will not make up for the lack of yield in 2020 so not much to celebrate

USDA seem to have only caught up now with what
you saw with your own eyes some time ago with your
trip over their corn belt .

Many moons ago a potato grower/merchant was asked how he had always been successful. I have never sold at the top of the market. Wise man who knows where the top is so have always sold on the way up and never had to sell at the end at stock feed value.
Ref grain, estimates are like poll results, worse than useless. If I was in the market I think any downside will come from currency change. As the fore runners in vaccination and with a well of savings looking for a home there could be the forecast leap in our economy. I said before Xmas £ to Euro would go to 1.20 quite quickly.
Bear in mind most of the economic pain has been borne by the young and the poor. Just look at fuel prices over the last month. Oil prices rising but fuel at the pump falling, and yes lower demand has had an effect but once the Mills have enough to carry into new crop be that home or foreign then that could also result in a correction.

maybe not but it sure is helping and wont be too far away and thats without 80% of last years ww in the shed .A lot depends on your forward budgets re yield and price I tend to go a tad low then theres less chance of disappointment and there has been a mountain of posts on here that are way more representative than hgca/merchants etc to help in decision making

Got offered 160 for feed barley today. Makes a mockery of the 130 spot price for top quality Malting barley at harvest

What is the feed price at harvest? The malting market is oversupplied and demand is reduced too. If you don’t like what’s on offer, grow for feed instead. I’ve no idea how long the current bull run on ag commodities will last but I’d say the market is a sell now and hold for new crop if that’s all they are offering.
