We've been sold on keeping growing wheat because they're "due" a bad harvest in that region. Seldom comes to fruition. And I don't enjoy knowing my success has come on the back of someone else's failure, especially if that failure isn't in their control.

Don't be daft. We have to have someone else's failure to make profitable crop farming. Otherwise we have a surplus

That’s always been the ironic thing in farming, everyone around the world is hoping for another region to struggle in order for them to benefit. Yet share global ideas and practices for the good of agriculture.

reading the above post from jackrussell is making my calculations re the purchase of the remaining fert a tad more difficult .This could well be the biggest gamble of my farming life now stretching back some 50 years but as a younger man I would have gone for tons , question is am I wiser or have I lost my verve?
