Yrs , nothing under 200 next harvest
We've been sold on keeping growing wheat because they're "due" a bad harvest in that region. Seldom comes to fruition. And I don't enjoy knowing my success has come on the back of someone else's failure, especially if that failure isn't in their control.
That’s always been the ironic thing in farming, everyone around the world is hoping for another region to struggle in order for them to benefit. Yet share global ideas and practices for the good of agriculture.Don't be daft. We have to have someone else's failure to make profitable crop farming. Otherwise we have a surplus
Yep , probably best just cutting inputs by 1/3That’s always been the ironic thing in farming, everyone around the world is hoping for another region to struggle in order for them to benefit. Yet share global ideas and practices for the good of agriculture.

What have presently got on the bank ? fert wisereading the above post from jackrussell is making my calculations re the purchase of the remaining fert a tad more difficult .This could well be the biggest gamble of my farming life now stretching back some 50 years but as a younger man I would have gone for tons , question is am I wiser or have I lost my verve?
75% which I reckon looking at my current crops could well be enough to get a near average yield as dont have a sq yard missing, flooded, struggling etcWhat have presently got on the bank ? fert wise
No point looking at breaking records this year , just make it pay .75% which I reckon looking at my current crops could well be enough to get a near average yield as dont have a sq yard missing, flooded, struggling etc
No point looking at breaking records this year , just make it pay .
Maybe the wrong sort of records will be broken this year.No point looking at breaking records this year , just make it pay .
Maximum yields are out of our controlYes, but going for maximum yield with these prices may be the best paying!
Certainty for someMaybe the wrong sort of records will be broken this year.
But unless you're locked in, and only a true gambler would lock in that proportion of crop that the extra fert will get you, how do we know what wheat prices will be at Harvest?Yes, but going for maximum yield with these prices may be the best paying!
