Would it be fair to say while you keep loading the lorries they have no incentive to pay more? can you not store for a week to get shop shelves empty?
I really do think that it will be the case that in a few months time we may have the big retailers actually bidding against each other to secure supplies, at the moment there’s slack in the system, say retailers want as a whole 10 of something then there is 10.5 kicking around but there may be only 9 in six months, I’m sure when the first one realises that flocks which are mid lay are not going to get replaced or sows not put back into pig the penny may drop and they fall like dominoes, but maybe they don’t, but I wouldn’t like to be the retailer exec who has to explain there’s no eggs simply because we didn’t pay the initial producer enough.

The pig/poultry account managers will simply move on to another similar job at a different retailer.

I totally agree. Talking to both pig and poultry men who can't take much more :(
Trouble is there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel for them at the moment.
