Pigs, poultry. Imagine there not flying
Broiler farmers have made millions out of cheap
grain in this county so a reasonable price adjustment
of their feed costs can easily be absorbed by sticking
a few pence on a chicken .The business model has been largely based
on ridiculously cheap feed.
The pig man has had the hardest time but let's hope the
talked about sow reductions abroad feed into a much better
price for them and they are justly rewarded.

Not for livestock farmers.
Once the food industry realises they will not get supply if they do not pay enough prices at the farm gate will rise
The problem is the supermarkets will not give fixed price contracts for livestock farmers to lock in a margin when grain was lower cost
3 month contracts are no good to any one when the lead time between order and supply are longer
Fertiliser order to grain moved more than 12 month
Egg laying chickens 50weeks or more
Cows 12 months
Beef 12to 30 months
Lamb 12 months or more

just in time stock systems do not work in agriculture

Ukraine has highlighted this

7 fat cows 7 thin cows

Sold last load of feed wheat yesterday , £325 June .
Have a load of barley also but merchant could not quote a price as no one buying at mo !
Have 485 t in a long pool , pays out in August . Wonder what that's going to come too ?
Asked in January and they still had 40 % to sell so hopefully will drag up average price.

Funny that, I sold some yesterday at 320 for June. Some in the pool also, when I asked back in March it was thought it might average around 220.
It will average around 270 so should be content with that.
