ive tried to remove some of the risk bought roughly 1/2 our fert for 23 and sold forward from this harvest to pay for it which will mean not carrying any fert debt past xmas works out less than 1 load of osr to 1 load of fert reckon weve been here before just bigger numbersRisky business this farming lark right now - easy to be near -/+ 100% out with output prices !

Isn't the tv news 'autumn price increases' just a poor description of the delayed nature of the domestic price cap? I do think there may be further genuine rises yet, as they don't normally make it cheaper when people need it. Nothing very normal at the moment, though.everyone saying on TV news today that energy price is not yet affected by the war and that effect will hit this autumn?

Much more excitingI cant see a crash in new crops due to fundamnetals now really, fate through weather is decided in almost all key regions, ideas of exporting via black seas re optimistic at best
That said current values could be more down to trading positions that that reality in which case things could change almost overnight !

Sadly the volume outlet (Girvan) for perfectly fine and legal wheat up here are only taking old crop. No penalty, other than extra miles, as it's oddly sited away from much grain.Anyone asked for a price for non assured (sorry, "UK law compliant") feed wheat Vs RT premium stuff?
Would anyone give you a well paid job?I've bought all my N now but sold no new crop (in fact i'm paper long on it Nov 22). This will either be genius or stupid ! I'm up circa 130pts on the nov 22 so am gambling winnings at this point meaning it doesn't really matter if I loose it now
If I wanted to avoid risk I would get a well paid job managing someone else's farm
What other crop is there right now?Sadly the volume outlet (Girvan) for perfectly fine and legal wheat up here are only taking old crop. No penalty, other than extra miles, as it's oddly sited away from much grain.
Looks like they've been got to. Plenty of ad-hoc homes, just not as simple as clicking the button on the frontier app after a few bevvies.
OK, none. I'll say it another way. When they start taking in new crop, it has to have a worthless sticker. What other crop is there right now?
Yep was told today moving to assurred wheat hasnt bothered them up to nowOK, none. I'll say it another way. When they start taking in new crop, it has to have a worthless sticker.
I did play dumb and go through the motions with more than one merchant, with the same eventual conclusion.
Would anyone give you a well paid job?

You could always work there and trade futures on your days off...?McDonalds are always hiring and they pay better than a lot of farmers make
(sadly that’s actually true !)

Now that would be an interesting thread to start , “Becoming a franchisee of a McDonalds/ KFC/Burger King etc”.I know a successful farmer who was looking into
becoming a franchisee of McDonalds.
You needed half a million 10 years agoI know you need a 100k cash as well as the premises before they will even consider you for a franchise.
We could save a lot on packaging as we have a ready supply dumped in the lane nightly! Now that would be an interesting thread to start , “Becoming a franchisee of a McDonalds/ KFC/Burger King etc”.
I expect some fair chunks of money needed to invest and I dread to think how much one would have to pay McDonalds per month, or however franchises work.
