Part of the adaptation to the on going war is a reduction in demand, another part is Russian commodities continuing to find a way on to world markets via different routes. Yes it’s possible to employ a broker and play the paper trading game successfully, hats off to those who do, but shifting physical grain is a different business imo. Currently prices are still attractive for physical trade with current costs IMO.

nothing fundamental has changed, drops are just trading ……….. best to not look to close !

i had a group of overseas farmers here last week, all farming BIG areas in eastern europe, one with huge hectares (like 100k plus !) in the Ukraine told me they would be 40% down this harvest and if they couldn’t export it would probably significantly reduce that for h23
Maybe maybe not. I know you like gambling on the futures but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. The last time wheat went over £200 it came crashing back down.

It's funny though how the Australian harvest is already
made at planting time. Seems to be a week of everything
around the world being penciled in with no issues and even
talk of Ukrainian wheat not needed to balance supply.
The Pope can rest easy now !

don't recall a war going on last time it breached 200 however either ?

history is of little relevance to the future

I just do not see the Ukraine situation getting better in a hurry personally, I think its going to be a VERY long and drawn out conflict

But who knows !!

I agree. As every day passes it becomes clearer Putin has the upper hand without needing to take any more territory. The chaos he is creating is only intensifying, inflation, stock markets crashing, currency, interest rates etc. What appears to be stalemate on a map is him winning. He has the oil, the gas, and the food the world relies on, he just needs to sit and wait. Historically the Russians are well versed in siege situations, but this time it is actually us under siege when most would like to think it’s them

We never sell OSR till it’s safely in the shed.
we don’t grow enough to even consider selling part of our expected tonnage.
I sell all of mine but on an acreage contract. I will be the first to admit that this has been the wrong decision, the last 2 seasons, although some who sold forward at highs may be winners.

Totally agree with this you'll see come the autumn/winter that putin is well & truly winning the foney war with the west.... A terrible terrible man but in a different league compared to the pretender politicians we all have in the west. Unfortunately he is a very clever man.

Unfortunately Putins not a politician(which I thought I would never say!) He's more of an evil businessman similar to Trump.
Prefer Trump to Biden mind.
I believe all politicians should have run a business or at least had a real job before running for office and not studied bullshite politics.

I said the same to someone else the other day….but I was talking about ALL public sector workers.

Don't worry your not alone, I'll be doing exactly the same.
Slight correction, actually £247 for first 5.6T/ha, feed barley at £276 for first 4.75T/Ha. Long term average is 8.5 for wheat and 6.5 for spring feed barley.
I'm not going to do anymore until after harvest now, if there's any market for spot malting and the diablo is ok it might go that route.
