Regretfully solar, house , horses etc. All take up farm land as there is no alternative. But as i look at it, if not farmed then there is less produce to compete against and more chance of making a profit.
I know its not a brilliant way to look at the countryside ( urban playground ) but just a more positive way.

Indeed. It is not for you to decide the policy of society. You do as you see fit. But appreciate you may have to compete with an alternative that may have more financial clout than growing crops. Its a funny old world. Best of luck with whatever you do.

I see arable farmer and large beef finisher Doug Dear who writes in the FW has said hes 10 days early harvesting this year and grains are big and bold, the early harvests hasnt affected yields. I suppose he has oceans of manure from the beef unit which helps.

Which news channel?
All the major ones , business news, farming news from around the world and online content from uk farming papers like the FW and FG. Interesting to know whats going on and what affects what. Find it crazy that some farmers who read and post on tff have been surprised by the drop in sfp when its been posted and written about everywhere for example

Well it was advised by some prik who was advising the government just before COVID that we could look at Singapore and how they import nearly all food stuffs for their population and we don’t need to grow food here , can’t remember his name now but that was really the wake up call that some advisers ain’t worth a sh1te
Dr Tim Leunig, LSE professor of economics

He needs to be held accountable for some of the rubbish he was spouting when he was a treasury advisor pre-covid. Feb 2019 he said we should more like Singapore. Perhaps he’d like to revisit those views with Singapore now struggling to get hold of any chicken/rice for their national dish, not due to a lack of cash, just due to the fact that most of the major exporters in Asia are wanting to hold on to what they’ve got (export controls) for their own voters
