Does anyone use or know how maize drilling works with a precision drill attached to power harrow. 4 rows on a 3 metre harrow?

A couple of contractors made their own combi rigs 10 years ago but quickly moved onto 4,5,6m power harrows and 6,8 row. So I never heard how well they worked sorry.
The pottinger above looks but its £40k and I'm not 100% you get the power harrow but you'd hope so.

Maize drill mounted on power harrow
Having put my 4 row maize drill away again for a year, I keep looking at it thinking I could mount it on a piggyback style linkage on my 3 meter power harrow. Has anyone done this? It would definitely save a pass. First problem for me would be driving the fan (as its 540rpm and the PH is 1000)...

Yep 4 row on an amazon ph factory built did ours for 10yrs. Sat on the packer roller the same as a box drill with the fert box were seed box would be, hydraulic fan. Dropped on and off to put a cereal drill on.
A standard 4 row drill on a tool carrier type thing with bulk fert would be very heavy out that far, this was heavy enough and fert was over the top of ph, micro fert would help solve the weight. It was contractor machine, iv thought about mounting one on my combi but it can get complicated to have depth adjustment independent to ph, fan drive to drill and keep weight forward. It was good for taking out wheelings but had to drill headland last due to weight. If its simply to make it one pass maybe a power harrow on front linkage?

It was an ancient 60", we stretched it to 3 m with various scraps of pipe, and only use 4 rings of blades, one in front of each drill unit.

Monosem by the looks of it ,owned by John Deere .

Yes, it is a Monosem. Before we added the rotavator and relied on crinkly discs for tilth, some years it was better than plough/power harrow, some years worse. With the rotavator it is comparable, but as we have sold the plough and power harrow we have nothing to compare with. Yields are very acceptable, and establishment costs much reduced.

Thanks I can't but think in the future we will have to do something similar.
Something along the lines of after WW sow a cover crop and hammer on slurry. Then plant straight in to the cover cover in the spring with something similar to your rig.

Cover crop after W Barley here, digestate on in March, glyphosate then drill when soil temperature increases.

This is ours, front tank was a £300 buy off ebay coupled to existing guttler press, new seed hoses off spaldings shoved up some 6 inch down spout and drill is a 6 row stripped down to 4.
