Macks lads are superb , but then it’s a family firm and go the extra bit to help

called in there a few years ago to look at a ex demo tractor seemed good guys much like sharnford tractors , would hate to have to deal with the big claas hot shots!

A more concerning issue has come to the fore, what’s the oil consumption like in the Cat C9 engine ? Seem to be using a bit more than I’m used to with my other engines. It’s had a full service today, so hoping I might see an improvement, but looking like Tuesday before I get a chance to find out.

@leone75 knows his Cat engines but I haven't seen him posting in a while.

Mine has the C13 and since I’ve had it it’s always used some oil, it hasn’t gone any worse or better in the 6 years I’ve had it. I just make sure I check it every day before it goes to work but generally only needs topping up every 3rd or 4th tank of diesel.

Mine c 13 is similar oil consumption. I know a large estate did a complete engine rebuild on there c13 as the driver wasn’t happy about the oil consumption and it made no difference at all. They still had to top it up every 4 days or so.

What age would they go back to ?

It will be different to each manufacture . I saw on social media , Doubledays were installing a JD2054 ( I think ) with its new owner.
