Hello one and all.

Just a quick one to see if there are any companies you would suggest for a unloading sock for our combine. Most of the time we don't really need one but given the fact we do a bit of osr now and had a couple of occasions when it was very windy during harvest we thought it might help.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I made one out of a cover for a drill hopper, thick enough that I could use bolts and washers to run the seam, used original bolts on claas auger to attach it, combines 9 years old and it’s not worn out or ripped, didn’t cost a penny really, just a few hours of imagination. The point about not letting it block is worth thinking about, I’ve only 10 ton trailers and it’s fine with them, but these last two years a neighbour has kindly lent us his 14 ton after he’d finished, as he didn’t do spring crops, and it could very quickly go wrong when the sock fills up.

My father “found” (he said he found it) a grain lorry sock on the side of the road and I ended up using that, it was even the same colour as the combine, although maybe not quite the same shade. It works a treat and I used all the original fixings from the end of the auger. Like others have mentioned, be wary of its length, even more so if it’s an auto level combine.
