You are right, this is a fantastic thread and one of the reasons I signed up to TFF is so I could see the photos properly. :D I’ve only a couple of pet sheep myself now but rent out our fields to a friend with sheep so feel I still have a large flock to look after without the responsibility :D :D

Good luck with your future career as a shepherd.

Thank you very much! :)

Glad you still enjoying it(y). If ya can't find out just ask and I stick the pictures on again.

I made some brackets and bolted them to the wall, made drop pins bolted to the hurdle so they drop in the bracket, cut a piece out of the hurdle so the water pipe would fit and jobs a good un(y)(y)View attachment 631150
Hi, I have followed this thread for a while but never posted, it is very interesting. I'm thinking of installing some drain pipe for water as you have and wondered if you could advise, what height is the pipe from floor and what size hole have you made to drink from.
Do ewes crap in the pipe and do you fill with a hose or is it automatic.

I realise this may be covered somewhere else but not going to look through hundreds of pages!
Thanks

The pipe is 21inches of the floor to the top of the pipe.

The hole is 7 inch long by 3 inch wide. Mite get the odd one that sh1ts in it if it's a good shot:rolleyes:

The pipe is self filling fixed to a ball cock from a water bowl.

Put an elbow at the other end for cleaning out, just shove the plunger on the drain rods through(y)

Thanks, I have thought of doing this for a while as no one likes watering pens. Seems simple when you see a system that works. Had never thought of draining rods to clean out, so simple.

Haha i was just today trying to figure out how to get a ballcock into a pipe didn't think of a water trough one! How much work realistically was it to make the pallets into hurdles was it just to save space?

Aye, a lot of work pulling um to bits, de nailing, cutting to length and re nailing then making all the brackets but well worth the time. Looks better than having a load of pallets tied up wi string Saves a bit of space.
