this year lice, must be something to do with the weather:scratchhead:.
Got one or two Lincolns in the early mob looking a bit 'licey' - the Spot On comes tomorrow. Their wool parts down the middle of their back, so you can get the Spot On onto the skin ok.

Like you say, must be the weather:facepalm:

Well the vet came and confirmed what i thought, some ewes have lice, got them in 3 batches and some in each batch are starting so next few days are going to be busy, one batch today. I dont fance throwing them throught the dip so Asked the vet about showering them, aslong as they get a good wetting from above and below no problem so thats the plan for today and tomorrow, ill fluke as well well i have them too, then next big job clean all the :poop: and crap out of the sheds ready for them "coming home for lambing again", and it all starts again boys and girls:rolleyes:(y)

I had plooky hoggs worse than your pic, but the skin's looked fine, unlike your 2nd pic. Took skin scrapes, oxter wax and fleece pluckings to the vet and they searched and searched but found nothing.

I treated for lice anyway and took the pour-on option ... 3 years later I finally think Iv gotten on top of it
whole flock were at it last winter - ewes, lambs, ewe hoggs... there's 1 ewe Hogg possibly at it this year. They are away from home up on a remote hill so I'll leave her be and do the whole lot again once shorn.

Worst is everything will all look fine... until this time of year then start plucking again :banghead:
Sheep never bother themselves much, but they look hellish

showered one lot but then rain came and gone cowd so ill hang a bit.
Got the worst lot done, fluked the hoggs and the last bunch and just afew in them picking but untill i get a dry warmish day theyll have to wait, just hope its before they come in:rolleyes:.
On the second pics you could see um running about but didnt show on the pic(n).
Vet rang and comfirmed lice from the wool and scrapping she took , no sign of scab from the blood tests so tbats summut i suppose. Your right though they look a mess when theyve been pulling for a while, think the first pis is the worst, couple of gimmers looking the same.
first lot back on the moor today for afew week while i get the sheds ready, just gotta find somewhere else to store all the scrap:facepalm::whistle:.
that where ready to go back

We find crovect won’t cure lice on our Welsh ewes when they’ve got a bit of wool on them so changed to Dysect last year and it cleared them up a treat. I figured if it’ll eat through your waterproof trousers it’ll surely get through a ewes fleece!

I use both...

They are definitely best done in the summer/fresh shorn - but it's not til now you see if you cleared it up or not :banghead:

Yes a lot of wool- we did all the ewes this year in full fleece in late May/early June when we marked the lambs as they had picked up lice on some winter grazing. Also added bonus of covering them for blowfly then as we don’t shear until early/mid July- don’t get that with crovect as got to use pin-stipe applicator for lice but Dysect is the same nozzle for both.
Cleared them up a treat- also a few young lambs were starting to itch but it stopped them as well as they must have rubbed against their mothers- it’s some strong stuff!
