Aye same here enzo wiped a hell of a lot the lamb out this year, I reckon about 100+ lost to it and a hell of alot of ewes without lambs. Its been a hell of year so far, hope it gets better as it goes on..well i aint finished but they look a while off lambing yet, so in yorkshire thats more or less, in other words it'll do
few more barrens than i'd have liked tbh, i might vaccinate for enzo en toxo in shearlings for next year as i think we had rumble wi some ert or other, but overall its been pretty decent lambing
Countdown is on for us, got into double figures today, 97 left bet they're still lambing in June thoughNot over till the fat lady sings .

How/when do you castrate your Herdy tup lambs?
In our second year of lambing a few Herdwicks (outside) here - about a third pure and two thirds to a Texel.
I like to ring 'em 24-36 hours old (while I can still catch the little blighters) like we do our commercials.
The Texel crosses are no problem but the pure breds have very small stones and some of them haven't dropped by that age.
Wondered about doing them with a Burdizzo later
Keen not to have any tup lambs about come October time as the few we didn't get done last year were bu66ers for jumping out.....
Thank you. Full to the gunnels with sheep tonight!! Pens in alleyways and even had to do an old style bales of hay pen in the loft to fit everything in!! That’s only 12 sheep mind!, was reading some of your original posts and thinking I bet our building would fit in your crèche!!Good luck wi lambing

Why do you fetch them all in once they’ve lambed? Seams alot of work to me when the weather is so good. A lot more risk of picking up disease than just leaving them to there own devices out side.Same here . Like to tag and ring before they go out. But I find they are an impossibility as a day old also.crossed ones no problem but pure’s are a nightmare! We often end up with complete tup lambs going store. Have often wondered about a burdizzo but never actually used them as we are like Alcatraz with fences and they are always gone before they can cause us a problem. I’m afraid it’s someone else’s shout to buy them.
Not that I would like the ring applied to me!! but I wonder why in nz they can ring a lot longer than here . Think it’s up to 6 months old isn’t it? That would make it a lot easier to do . Different places ,different rules I guess.
