I don’t like slating anyone involved in ag, but the Guy smith reply to the red tractor debate was dire.

of course they have to mix products and that is why we are fed up with this nonsense of being gold plated for us and not for everyone else who supply’s part of the supply chain.

Guy smith has lost the plot and so has the NFU. I was once a fully pledged supporter but now I am just fed up with this back slapping old chums circle......as they say on the dragons den...I’m out

Haven’t seen the post you refer to but Guy Smith now works for RT, I’m not sure what you expect him to say but he’s hardly likely to do anything other than tow the party line.

Shame he’s gone down that road, I thought long ago that he’d make an excellent NFU president one day.

Could you tell those of us who haven’t seen this post which thread it was on/post number

They spelt his name wrong and imo 'gripes' is a poor choice of word it should be the phrased 'serious concern'

and btw i thoughT the same aout G.Smith comments in the other thread, also i found it condescending but did not comment as he played the 'dont be mean to me or make derogatory comments card' and its just a chatroom etc.....

Poor show , depressingly poor show.

again , interesting that the only people they can find to speak in favour are both on the Red Tractor gravy train ..... Sorry I mean “payroll”

Its hardly a new phenomenon, the 'buying off' of critics via a nice little sinecure here and there..............

Anyway Guy Smith manages to spectacularly miss the point - the issue is not that the grain processors mix RT grain with imported grain, its that they refuse to accept non-RT grain from UK producers while perfectly happy to accept it from abroad. If there was a healthy market for non-RT grain in the UK, then producers would have a choice - produce to RT standards get X, or produce to legal standards and get X-5% (or whatever). Its the (probably illegal under competition law) refusal of UK processors to buy UK sourced non-RT grain that is the issue here.

100% this

however it suits RT rather well that this disparity with acceptance of imports exists

if it didn’t ACCS would die overnight

Farmers, don't spout off on social media, that's ruining RT's reputation! Just take part in this confidential consultation process, that's how to have open dialogue.
There,there boys,don’t make a fuss.

It clearly is a scheme which allows sub standard imported food into the UK food system and discriminates against our home producing farmers.

You couldn’t make it up! :banghead:

As a farmer I think Scottish Quality Cereals (Northern version of RT) is something that I could live without, and since being sold to Accoura it looks more than ever like it's a nit picking money making venture that has lost it's way.

But as a consumer, I don't want to feed my family with any of the shite I see produced on sub standard units, by 'farmers' that clearly couldn't care less about the quality of their produce or the environment. Buck up your ideas, or make way for someone else who can. Assurance is no different in any other profession, as pretty much every industry has to do CPD, I don't see why you lot think you're so special.
