Any end user opinions/experiences with any of the following,
Kuhn Optimer
Pottinger Terra Disc
Bednar Swifter Disc
Primary use would be in mulched maize stubble.

Take a look at the Proforge inverta as well, just got a set this year and very pleased with them. Competitive prices too.

Does the Terra Disc work in a rigid plane or can both gangs float individually?
Fixed plane IIRC.
Some video stills from 1st day out.

Making short work of that. ?

Yeah. We went for the double cloverleaf packer, mainly because we don’t always need the consolidation after and it makes a nice job, our heavy soil can stick it DD rings. And jam against the scrapers.

This was a drone video I made later

Two more ‘useful’ videos I’ve just put up.

The first is at the end of August last year in a cover crop, the above stills came from this video.

The second is the demo machine in April last year, making a seedbed for Lucerne. We had the discs in too shallow really and the track I was reversing a long was a little bouncy!

Great machines but the price here for a new 5 mtr Pottinger is eye watering.
New 5 mtr with air seeder fitted is nearly NZD$149000.
Having said that, we are being told by most of our importer/suppliers that new machinery is going up in price by at least 8% due to our currency devaluing and further Covid19 issues.
Good luck shifting gear at those prices.

Why so much? Is it expensive compared to others?

Can't imagine why.
Kuhn and Bednar much cheaper with similar spec. Even if you allow say NZD$20-22k for the seeder it's impossible to justify.
Mind you, a new McHale Fusion 3Plus with all the bells and whistles is NZD$195500 with a price rise to come.
Frustratingly there seems to be no corresponding lift in very good second hand machines that you have to trade.

Seems strange. Are they coming through an importer who’s making a cut? Fairly sure you could buy them in the UK, container them to NZ and still be quids in at that price.
