Yes, there is no need for it. I haven't used cash for years, most places refuse to take cheques, our bank stopped issuing them earlier this year and they will not be able to be used from July next year, digital is the way to go.
I think cash is to widely used to be banned
What do you get in your birthday card? A receipt of a transaction?
I like cash, also it takes some realising from my tight fist or from my secret hiding place

I like cash too ARW, and I know it is hard to get It from your tight fist.
But as for your ‘secret’ hiding place....................have you been there to count up recently?

What do you give your kids for pocket money an fecking IOU?
Do they not own a piggy bank and count their pennies every now and again?

Cash is king when it's gone it's gone and it allows majority of low income families to budget.

It's far to easy to spend virtual cash on a card or phone and we all wonder why credit is such big business!

My kids now all work, when they were still receiving pocket money I paid in into the bank for them, they then used a cash card to buy anything they needed, you cannot overdraw on a cash card unless you have an overdraft facility with the bank. It taught them the value of money, more so than a pile of coins would. They are all as tight as the Dutch.
Low income families can just as easily use a cash card as they can cash, there is no difference, cash cards are not credit.
What do you pay your kids for pocket money? Groats?

I have an intense dislike for folk who want to force their ways on others, no better than racists sexists or homophones in my opinion
Sometimes that is what has to happen for slow learners, it took around 80 years for the UK to go decimal and then it was only because the old pounds shillings and pence were taken away.

If your internet isn't working properly then the logical thing to do is fix the internet.
Not easily done when your business is selling produce at markets and fairs usually in the back of beyond. It might work in your bubble but please dont tell me how to run my business. If people budget 50 euro for food, and bring 50 with them, they wont live beyond their means
