Company car - advice please

“Certain Roads” = 90% of those in rural parts?
They are in by design a commercial vehicle, just like a van, and as such do not offer the deft handling or short stopping distances as a passenger carrying vehicle when they are loaded.
Vans and other such commercial vehicles have always had different speed limits to cars, and i think this is entirely justified.

What I find strange is that a Ford Transit van is subject to the lower speed limits but a Ford Transit Tourneo with 8 passenger seats is a car not subject to the reduced limits. Same machine, same weights and limits but a different load = different speed limits. It's a funny old world.

Has anyone bought a commercial version of a vehicle, and then converted it into the car version by adding a rear seat.
I think someone a few year ago had a Daihatsu Fourtrak commercial, then had rear windows and a forward facing seat fitted, but still only paid commercial tax rate.
How would he have stood in an accident if carrying 4, when originally it was a 2 seater.

Morning - this is a Q a company agronomist or vet might be able to help with.

Looking at a new car for the business (me as the driver) to replace a Ford Ranger. Dont want/need a new pick up.

Must be -
Good MPG (45 mpg + minimum) diesel
Ready for 40,000 miles a year on mostly motorways
Extremely reliable
Comfortable for my old bones
Able to go down a farm track
As efficient as possible from a BIK point of view
5 door for child seat in back

Would like to be
Pokey
Well kitted out

Budget dependant but value more important than cost.

I am not eve sure what I want exists, i have a short list - any ideas appreciated.

Bet you wished you hadn't asked now! Ask 20 people you get 20 different ideas! ?

It can and does happen to the Discovery 4 & 5 - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2020-69-...644702?hash=item3d9938d91e:g:tPgAAOSwRi9d8OCi

I presume you would have to inform insurance

No that’s a disco 5 with rear “occasional use seat “ conversion. Costs about 3k from companies like Scot or Atlantech. It’s on very thin ice ( I have a shogun with atlantech convesion) mine has a tacho so it’s hard to argue it’s not a commercial.

I did SWB Trooper, proper seats and belts along with opening windows but left the back panel windows original, it passed MOT ok, no car tax to pay as it had been abolished. Cannot remember its v5 taxation class but dont think it was commercial???... PLG???

Here's some more for the "thin ice" - I don't believe anyone has ever got into trouble for doing this. Land Rover offered to do it to mine for about £5k.
