Compressor for Prattley auto drafter.

Would a 12 volt "car" compressor have enough puff to power a Prattley auto drafting crate or does it need to be powered by a decent compressor with a holding tank?

If you haven't already bought the drafter, get the electronic one. No need for a compressor then.

We use one of these for our te pari, cheap and simple to move about. Air driven shedders are generally more popular really

Or speak to Victor from Pharmweigh , his new all electronic autodrafter is streets ahead of anything out there , can vouch for that as am using one at present
Yep pharmweigh stuff is always very good but can be very heavy being stainless steel. Top bloke though.

surely must get on yer nerves after awhile, the noise of a compressor running in the background.
If we are working at home its running in another shed as you can use as long a pipe as necessary. If in the field the compressor is in the pickup and facing away from the machine so its no problem really. Not as noisy as a clipping machine running all day for example

i suppose just sliding drafting gates doesn't take much effort though.

Tbh i think that drafters are an expensive tool for doing one job as opposed to the te pari/clippex/scotsqueze type of machine that not only drafts the sheep but holds them so other management tasks are physically alot easier. Just my opinion though.

I reckon the same, infact a lot of the crates are way too expensive .
Would definitely need air ram power for tipping table though.
But even they could be manual like the prattley one I suppose.

Often wonder if I should add the tip function to my te pari but never really considered clipping out sheep with them standing difficult tbh as long as they are restrained is the main advantage for auld buggers like me .

I pull it over by hand when I'm not able to do that anymore i think I'll add the ram
