Compromise spot sprayer for grassland weeds

Not really a precision farming thread but mulling over options while spot spraying thistles with a quad mounted sprayer. Generally creating spirals around the field and repeatedly spraying some plants in error! Option two is to put the sprayer on a tractor with second person and walk along spraying while driver drives the field without repeating areas.
option three in my head is to use a 12m sprayer with 6 manual section valves. run the tractor on autosteer and attempt to keep up with any weeds that appear in any of the two metre sections?
green on green control systems are far beyond the reach of most small farms so thinking of realistic comprise without wasting too much time, money or energy! Am I mad is the obvious question but I already know the answer.Any opinions ?

I had a couple of new Herbal leys that exploded with Boar thistle.

I got my BiL to drive my little compact with a small sprayer on it, with 6-7m of pipe on it and a lance at teh end. He drove up and down in sort of straight lines, and I spot treated the thistles. Then a week or two late I finished off with the knapsack...

We used to do the same just drive willy nilly miss bits do some twice so now we either roll or chain Harrow or drive up and down with a vehicle and then stay in the wheel marks with the quad . You can make a really thorough job
