Bought Barley this week, spot and some new crop always buy some forward to hedge my bets. Delivered April £105, May £106, July £110, Sept £105, Oct £107, Nov £108, Dec £109 29 tonne loads

Bought through a grain merchant. I always get three quotes, for old crop all three to within a pound or two but new crop one quote much cheaper next best price was £116 straight through. Couldn't turn it down at that price I thought.

Flooding in Argentina is one reason for this weeks rises. Our compounder withdrew all prices yesterday morning until further notice. All proteins rose, as did the likes of Soya Hulls up between £8-11 /t for the summer run.
