Had some rolls blown into my loft from mvf. Never had from them before. MVF have taken over farmway here in wensleydale and they use a mill owned by loyds piercbridge. Anyway, i directed it in the loft, and thought this is dusty stuff and told the driver this. Been feeding it for a week in a shed with troughs in and a bloody good job.

It wont flow down the feeder in the dairy i have adapted for bagging. I have never seen cake that has needed shovelling from the start. Whole point of getting it was so i can feed on the straw like i always do but its going to be expensive stuff to feed like that with all the broken up bits and dust. Also there a full grains in the cake? never really seen this before, is that normal.

Anyway, its putting me off getting anymore from them but what causes it? Is it the manufacturing? The ingredients? The wagon blower? It was a cheap blend £212 for 18% as it was just for 6 week quad and triplets and later lambing gimme lambs. I intend to get a good 13mj cake next load.
Slightly better feed than cheapest ive seen ( the ingredients were written out by hand by the rep) well, except the sunflower and palm kernel?? Is this why it wont pelletize? TIA

Wheat
wheatfeed
rapemeal
sugarbeat
barley
wheat distillers
sunflower
molasses
maize
soyameal
palm kernel
vit and min
limestone
salt
veg oil
calmag

fibre and ash 8.3 an 7.6

I'd say it was probably poorly made but 'possibly' made worse by blowing it too fast. I wouldn't have thought was a particularly cheap nut this year either, certainly not cheap enough to have that much dust in it.

I'd be on the phone jumping up and down, wanting them to come and replace it.

At the moment they are just getting going with new blends and logistics since mvf took over.. they cant supply the better concs in rolls so that rules them out this year anyway. I'll tell the rep as she'll probably want feedback in her new job. Its a pain in the arse cause i'll now have to adapt a cow trough in the parlour and get some better cake before i can feed on the floor. Ah well! its been one of them weeks.

Is it possible to suck it out? Think i'll just call it a lesson this time, but they owe me one for the troughs i'll have to buy and the effing about moving them.

Yes it is, if you haven't yet paid for it, I wouldn't.
Fwiw, we are paying not much more than that for a top quality Premium ewe 20 on a contract.

Been quoted £225 by jamesons of masham for 18%, 13.1? me all good ingredients, soya, distillers etc. Would knock £4 off if 20 ton load. MVF the same price and similar ingredients but in a nut which is no good.

Ewelac 18% from carrs billington £215 were the protein is made up from amino max (heat treated rape) which i dont know alot about but i'm all ears if anyone has out to say about it. Dont know the me of it.

All these in 3-5 ton drops.

David, were do you get your cake and whats the ingredients and ME if you dont mind?

I was going to say that it sounds like the lorry driver was the village idiot and blew up with the throttle on full chat. I would be kicking up a fuss to the suppliers.

Wasn't blown as fast as the carrs wagons neil. Was a guy with his own wagon that turned up. I put a mask on and deliberately kept it off the walls and kept it as gentle as i could as i thought i could minimise any waste when feeding.. little did i know how bad this stuff would be. Really dont think it was the wagon know i think.
