just been on phone to forfarmers , had 3t of lamb finisher about 6 weeks ago was about £240t (sent bill for 280 but thats another story ) i asked what it was now , was told £310,!! barley is cheap at moment , so no doubt looking at finished prices cashing in , unless rep got it wrong

1 tonne tote delivered by pallet was £264-ish from ECV in late April/ early May. Price had dropped about a fiver when I ordered another one last week.

Somethings definitely up and I think it's the feed!

Had a feed rep call around today with prices for winter budget on blend calf feed, £38/t up from the spring. I asked him why........ I mean how!!

That's all I'm hearing barley price is down and maize, he replied straights are still strong on the futures, I said you used that excuse last year you need a new one to get my order this year.

I think this barley and wheat could go up, I honestly don't think it's there even with the extra spring barley. Somethings amiss.

I'm pritty certain as you say @J1177 that wheat and barley will go up that's why I am keen to lock a winter price in.

I'm also convinced like @Skintagain says they are definitely taking the pi$$! Everything is up from baby calves all the way up to finished cattle so naturally costs go up!

That rep called again this afternoon so he's definitely keen to do a deal, the only thing is he's adding cheap fillers to bring the price down, to which I'm definitely not impressed with.

I gave him a lovely rendition of Tom Jones Thunderball as I walked off. Treat them mean to keep them keen! 😉

tell him you are putting 1000 tonne grain store up

That’s Carrs.
I did a wee experiment last year, crystalix against ACT labelled Downland high energy. I can’t remember exact figures but iirc ACT was 9p/head/day crystalix was 5p/head/day.
Cheap is cheap for a reason
Downland is just MAXX is it not? I've no idea ACT did anything up here, never seen a contact
