Is longtown or whole feed side?Well bugger me, 1 call and it seems to be right, an announcement will be made on the 7th of june
Well been told, it's come from a reasonable source but may not be hard n fast,,,Is longtown or whole feed side?
out of curiosity, what are you basing that on?Is draff the same as grains? Round here grains rigid load are £60 now, too dear really for beef rations
£60 for brewers grains equates to £280 lead in for wheat on the current DM calculatorout of curiosity, what are you basing that on?
if you took brewers out what would you replace it with that as cost effective?
I see. interested to hear your thoughts£60 for brewers grains equates to £280 lead in for wheat on the current DM calculator
Not sure how that can work it out. If that’s right there is a saving not a lot but some as long as the handling doesn’t get the better of you
Ask KW don’t know. It’s making a comparison on feed cost on a dm basis You have to compare it to somethingI see. interested to hear your thoughts
Why are comparing a protein source to a starch source. Wouldn't it make more sense to compare brewers grains to Rape meal or soya on a Protein basis?
What group are they on?Seen stockfeed spuds on fb today £45/t
Hereford farmers and contractorsWhat group are they on?
The grains I got were relatively dry but still 4 tonne of run off per 20 ton load, so that puts them @£72/ ton. They are a decent protein source but per unit of protein it’s as dear as soya at thatout of curiosity, what are you basing that on?

Just being curious but how did you work it the amount of run off?The grains I got were relatively dry but still 4 tonne of run off per 20 ton load, so that puts them @£72/ ton. They are a decent protein source but per unit of protein it’s as dear as soya at that
Simple, kept a tally of how much I put in the feeder wagon per load compared to the weigh ticket for the load. Over several 20 tonne loads never more than 16 tonne went in the feeder. The scales are accurateJust being curious but how did you work it the amount of run off?
Over the years you could tell what the moisture would be like depending on what place the grains came from. Some fairly dry some like slopSimple, kept a tally of how much I put in the feeder wagon per load compared to the weigh ticket for the load. Last load I had was £360 that was in April the prices quoted going forward out of contract were nearer to be starting with a 4. I’m just about out so will find out in the next day or two might not even ask. Only have 40 odd cattle inside at the moment and some of them will be going soonWhat are people paying for beef finisher type nuts and blends in bulk lately?

Interestingly I had a chat with the lady in the office about it and enquired about beet pulp prices, years ago we made grainbeet 4:1 and it fattened cattle well which mystified me with having zero starch. She quoted around £330 so it works out around £300/tonne mixed @ 86/dm, it would be the most inline with other rations it’s been for years, it soaked up nearly all the juiceThis place was always generally ok
Great stuff used to fatten lambs on it.Interestingly I had a chat with the lady in the office about it and enquired about beet pulp prices, years ago we made grainbeet 4:1 and it fattened cattle well which mystified me with having zero starch.
