If nwf keep putting there prices up, l, ll just get Davidsons again, as it a good feed.

Nwf fairly sh!t on there own bonfire if you ask me this year... they was always the best value for money in my opinion but now they’ve ramped up there prices for a product that isn’t anywhere near as close too the competition... £6 more a ton and for HJ LEA oaks stuff and it’s way better

The feed merchants reckoned they’ve been subjected to 40 odd pounds per tonne raw material input rise and apparently after the price rises in May there’s more to come

Unless it was a typo on a price report I was amazed to see palm kernel is in the £290’s until later in the year. That’s doubled in price and compounders use endless for ruminant rations. It must be a freight issue I assume

When I worked in a blending plant very few of the rations had palm kernal, I wouldn’t have used more than a few artics in the 2 years I was there compared to over an artic a day of Soya Hipro and Rapemeal

I was talking to a rep for one firm and an agent who buys off different firms they both told me this week on separate occasions that the raw material inputs have gone up over £40.
Neither have anything to do with each other as far as I know
I was more thinking along the lines of what were they making as a margin out of it before this happened

Iirc the highest I ever saw palm kernal as an inclusion in a ration was 5%, but as I said above it was the rarest product I used, I’m sure I went through more bagged minerals a month than PK.

It isn’t used in blends as it is lumpy and pretty unpalatable, they pick round and leave it. But finely ground and mixed within a pellet or nut believe me they use a lot

Fair enough 👍🏻 It was the finest product I’d ever seen, pick that up with the bucket and that part of the shed would disappear for half an hour 😂 extremely heavy too
