Concrete lego blocks for maize clamp

Been offered a consignment of large precast lego blocks (1600×800×800) Currently on an industrial yard that is being redeveloped. Can get them at keen money, just wondering has anyone ever tried making a silo clamp out of these? Was thinking mostly for maize so wouldn't think the side pressure would be high , or at least not as high as wet grass against them. At 3 blocks high that would leave a wall at 2.4m high. Anyone ever tried/seen it done before?

They work well for us. You need a few half size ones to bond the big ones in. I think if I was putting new clamps in I would just use these on a tarmac base. So flexible, you can split a bunker for different crops. You need to get the right lifting attachments for them, then they are easy to handle. Ours have pegs with a head on them like a giant nail, and there is a clamp which slides on and self locks, very quick to attach and remove.
Go for it.
If you are anywhere near Norfolk you are welcome to see ours. We also use them for splitting heaps of straights in the mixing shed. Then you can park a pallet of minerals on top of the divider, a nice height for manual offloading.

Can get them for £20 quid each. Seems dead cheap. They need the site cleared ASAP so might get a few artics in to cart

Yes I’ve buckraked a few customers clamps with them no issues as long as it’s done properly
Sounds good, how high were they made approximately and did you ever put grass silage in them

They make OK silage clamps - but beware of overloading.

Your biggest challenge might be that they slip against the base so maybe tie them into the clamp somehow, could you put concrete paving around them outside the wall? I won't mention the Environment Agency but they could argue that you are 'altering the clamp' and therefore the whole clamp would need to be in spec if not already.

Happy to help if I can.

For £20 though they'll be a good pension fund!

So i managed to get 20 blocks, then a big cheif entered the building site and put a stop to it. Looking £100 for them now. Im guessing there probably worth that given the price of concrete. But to make a clamp id be cheaper shuttering a 12 inch reinforced wall rather than a building an 800mm wide one with lego blocks
