Concrete mix for shuttered wall

I'm going to build an 8 foot high shuttered wall, the plan is for it to be supported every 15 feet with 6 inch RSJ concreted in the ground, the wall is a boundary and doesn't have any loads against it although cattle may be able to access the area.

Can anyone help with advice for a mix, I have scalpings which is 13mm to dust and I was planning to mix 1 part cement to 8 parts scalpings

If the wall isn't load bearing and 'decorative' that will be fine I reckon, I would use 6 :1 though, make sure that you have a decent poker and fill in levels, perhaps some horizontal rebars too?

other threads on here show you all those details, I am only a bloke on the internet.

Thanks, forgot to say I'm going to put a few re bars in horizontal,

the plan was to do a 4 foot pour, then another 4 foot on top?

think i would want it a bit stronger then 8-1 also would do it in one lift extra shuttering but a far tidyer joint not easy to pour a 4ft shutter then lift and seal it properly for 2nd lift

Do you mean you would do all 8 foot in one pour? Just tricky getting the poker that far down

Simple 2or3+board scaffolding about 3ft from the top and preferably on the opposite side from where you are going to skip the concrete in from any poker will reach down a lot more than 8ft and it will be a much neater finish

I'd go for the 6:1 mix. Just make sure the ratios are exact in that each is the same volume. Use a 1" tamp rod or best a poker to settle the mix nicely. Don't mix too wet that's important.
You could sand-blast after and make like a Picasso as the granite would look spectacular blasted!
Yes to bought in concrete panels to save messing with shuttering.....

You put the 8' shuttering up and keep adding layers of about 2' and allow 20mins to go off before adding next layer, it massively reduces the shuttering loading, essential in some cases.

just a quick one regarding shuttering, currently putting up shuttering out of ply board just to build small walls around 16” high under feed barriers and for the step for cows to go from scrape passage to bedded area, probably use ready mix c35 with fibres, will I need reinforcement such as mesh?

I am no expert but I would put a couple of re-bars in that wall - 15mm or whatever.
