Concrete panels as bridge?

We’ve got to put a new bridge in over our brook. We’ve already got 4 old large rsjs. Looking to lay them across then put panels flat down on them running cross ways anybody ever done something similar?

Personally would not do it. Have had 4mtr x 1 mtr concrete panel bog mats crumble and disintegrate. Went back to panel manucaturer and redesigned bog mats to also include steel mesh in addition to the tension steels. These have been excellent.

How thick are your bog mats?

I suppose it's all about context.
How wide is the brook?
How big are the RSJs?
What do you want to run over the bridge?
How often do you use it?
How secure are the banks?
Sorry for all the questions, but the answer to your question is yes it could work if . . .

This all needs answered first before we could possibly advise(y)
Also, whatever your budget... double it

^^This, lots of variables that need to be answers before you can know for certain it would work for your situation. Big one that will affect the concrete panel is how wide do you want the bridge? This will determine the beam spacing and hence how far the concrete panel has to span. Defiantly possible to do, I see quite a few bridges with concrete decks with either steel or timber beams.

We did this 14 years ago. Old railway bridge. The sleepers are laid on 6 heavy duty girders and have a light covering of railway ballast.
