Concrete roller screed next to shed wall

I've a 30 foot wide shed with block walling either side that I'm wanting to pour concrete over the earth floor.

Any tips on the easiest way would be greatly appreciated!

In the past I'd shutter a foot wide strip against each wall, then the next day use these strips as the guide for one side of a 12 foot roller screed, with the other end of the screed running on 6x2 boards as shuttering.

Then on the third day, use the edge of the two 13 foot strips as guides to screed the last 4 foot in the centre.

There must be a simpler way that the full width can be poured in one day surely????

Plastic shuttering that you leave in place and it does your expansion joints but it's not cheap.

But then, I haven't heard of plastic shuttering either

Just leave wood shuttering in if your not massively fussy or get it out next day and fill gap.

Have you tried getting wood for shuttering recently?

I'm planning on reusing the wood I've got for another section of concrete outside, before finally using it as purlins on a pole barn

Perhaps I could fix some feet to support a length of 2 inch box section. Then pull the steel out and float the wee gap..... That's assuming somebody has 2 inch box section in stock

I bought 3ks worth of 20’ 9x3”s last week no problem , weekly steel delivery’s no problem.

we did one last year marked the level on the wall all way round. then just poured and leveled using lazer level and rake. tamped by hand just kept working it back as you go.then power floted

Most of the shed builder guys round here just go freehand with ĺaser level and chalk marks on walls, or magic screed the same way.

Our last big floor was done freehand, chalk on walls, sockets for gate posts set day before, 6" of run over 120ft, few guys with hand tamping sticks, must admit I was sceptical but the lads got it bang on.
Apparently setting boards and screeding off them is a bit old school nowadays.

I haven't the nerve to try it myself though.

Before the "k" form we used a scaffold pole on bricks and slid it out as we went along.
It all depends how critical levels are!

It might be "old school" but that sounds the perfect way forward

Used some k-form for a bit of DIY concrete around the house last year, made it very very handy!

Yes worked a treat I think we did 4 passes as it was a workshop floor .we've used it on another floor since and have some more to do before harvest.gives you're arms a workout but definitely worth it

Because we were bolting a 2 post lift in they sent us some high strength concrete. It went off fast they had the lorrys timed so we could keep it going .5 people to do it but that Includes 1 on the telehandler. The roof wasn't high enough for a lorry so it was carried in with the bucket.

Local shed men have one of these. their laser can be set to give fall E / W & N/S .
They reckon to be accurate to 2 mm

Think it costs about the same as a telehandler

Did the power float work ok for you?

Made had his floor done with one recently and it looks a right mess. Same guys did my floor without one and I'd say mine looks better.
Sneaky feeling the fibres messed the job up.
