Concrete Slurry Tank, Panels or Shuttered

I am looking to build a concrete slurry store 165'x45'x12'.

I am regularly told that shuttering is best and it is stronger.

However, as you travel around you see plenty of panel stores which seem more than adequete.

I appreciate the 12' depth may be the problem, but please can people explain the pros and cons, in my situation all the walls would be back filled.

Are panels actualy any cheaper? There seems a shortage of people available to shutter tanks?

it wud take about £20000 to shutter it that's me supplying the steel and the water bar and you buying the concrete roughly 300 metres for the floor and walls

No one in eire would use panels. Every tank is shuttered and yet lots of companies here export panels to the UK. Very odd. Is it lack of contractors with shutters or the aggregate tax makes your readymix too expensive

And if it was back filled could you put it in like a silage pit. ie panels on the front side of steel pillars?

Would sealing it be the problem?

The beauty of theLshaped panels is that there are no steel supports underground, and sealing is a relatively simple mater of aplying mastic.I would use a primer on the concrete before the mastic for better adhesion.

You can't beat shuttering for underground tanks. A tidy well sealed strong job. It's very rare to see a tank done with panels around my way.
