Connecting JD C441R haybaler to Fendt 716 Vario

Hello guys.
I am looking for help with connecting my brand new John Deere C441R haybaler to my Fendt 716 Vario.
The baler has isobus connector for connecting to the tractor and it fits in the Fendt. But the problem occurs when trying to connect the Greenstar 1800 display that came with the haybaler. The tractor has an incab 9 pin isobus connector that is specifically put there for connecting “third party displays or joysticks”. But the short cable for connecting the display does not have the 9 pin isobus connector. Can anyone tell me if I can either uu another cable with the right connector, if there is an adapter piece on the market or if it is possible to get a 9 pin isobus connector to replace the other one one the cable?

It is 2014 I think. We tried using the VarioTerminal and works for the most part, but it does not sound the audible warning it should when the baler is full. It is kind of a problem having to keep your eyes most of the time on the display so you know when to stop.
 
In the 716 cab, the ISObus connector is next to the one you have taken a photo of on the roof panel (that’s the 7-pin ISO signal socket not to be confused with the ISOBus socket). The ISObus connector has 9 pins arranged in a square grid of 3 x 3.

Pretty sure the round 19-pin Amphenol connector in your photo, is a JD bulkhead connector for hooking up the GS2 display to the cab corner-post connect in a JD tractor.

The neatest solution would be to buy or make up a harness that goes from the 26-pin Amp connector on the back of the GS 1800 display directly to the 9-pin ISObus connector on the cab roof.

Definitely possible to have a separate UT/VT (ISObus virtual terminal) screen connected. Would need to set the terminal instance priorities so that the two screens don’t ‘fight’ over the implement. Whether there’s any limits with the 1800 screen, couldn’t say for sure.

I am in Northern Iceland.

We have a new JD dealer in Reykjavik and I am afraid they are not up to the task. After waiting about two weeks for an answer regarding this problem, they said it was not their problem and that I should talk to the tractor dealer for a solution .

I wouldn't say it wasn't their problem when I did what you're trying to do with my kverneland spreader with my John Deere it was the kverneland dealer who supplied the cable.

Surely there's a simple solution to get all the functions working through the Fendt terminal

In terms of making up a new harness to go from the back of the GS2 1800 screen to the ISObus sockets, it's actually pretty straightforward.

If you start with the ISObus socket end, then these are more or less a standard item - you could find a pre-terminated cable from a terminal manufacturer like Mueller or CCI/Amazone and just chop off the end you don't need. e.g.
ISOBUS 9-pin circular in cabin plug to DB-9 plug (Mueller part 31322541) and crimp on some pins to go into the Amp 26-pin plug on the screen.

Alternatively all the parts for the in cab ISObus connector are standard Amp, pretty much off the shelf from Mouser, RS Components etc and not very expensive. I have made these up before. In fact I have one here I could send you probably if I can find it in my junk drawer.

The key pins on the 9-pin ISObus socket, that need to go to the GS screen are:

Pin 2: CAN_Low
Pin 3: CAN_High
Pin 6: TBC_Power (switched 12V ignition)
Pin 7: ECU_Power (permanent 12V supply from battery)
Pin 9: ECU_Ground (pins 8 /9 usually connected together as they are both ground)

For the cab plug you would need:
1 no. of Amp 206708-1 Plug housing, CPC shell size 13, 9-way
1 no. of Amp 206966-7 Cable clamp, CPC shell size 13
5 no. of Amp 66331-8 Crimp sockets 20-24 AWG

At the GS screen end, you would need to do disconnect the square Amp 26-pin plug on the rear of the 1800 screen. Then unlock the pin locking mechanism, its a large single white locking tab, which you depress with the tip of a flat blade screwdriver. Once that's done there are two white tabs on the opposite side of the connector that are released, the connector pins are now unlocked and you can remove the pins from the shell, ready to insert new ones etc.

You would need to crimp on new receptacle terminals for the wires from the ISO plug cable now going into the GS1800 screen. I had a quick look online and found a JD AMS document with the pinout on the 19-pin Ampehonel plug, you could trace these back to the pins on the 26-pin square plug using a multimeter. Then terminate on new receptacles and put them in the correction positions in the shell and lock it all back together.

Using a multi-meter you can buzz out (check continuity) all those wires above from your 19-pin round connector (as labelled in post #9) back to the 26-pin square connector on the display. Just to check everything before you go tearing connectors and stuff apart.

At least then you can be sure you know (with some extra confidence) what positions in the 26-pin plug the 5 wires from the ISObus in-cab socket will go to....
 
For completeness the ISObus 9-pin CPC connector pinout officially is:
  1. Connected to ECU_PWR (Not assigned)
  2. CAN_L input = CAN Low input (CAN-L input)
  3. CAN_L output = CAN Low output (CAN-L output)
  4. CAN_H input = CAN High input (CAN-H input)
  5. CAN_H output = CAN High output (CAN-H output)
  6. TBC_PWR = TBC power (6-16 Vdc) (+ UB 15)
  7. ECU_PWR = ECU power (6-16 Vdc) (+ UB 30)
  8. TBC_GND = TBC ground (Earth)
  9. ECU_GND = Electronic Control Unit (ECU) ground (Earth)

Wouldn’t Implement CAN-Bus high be Implement CAN+ and Implement CAN-Bus low be Implement CAN- from the GS21800 Connector pinout?
