New connection here £1900 and it took 6 months. The hoops and various inspection were ridiculous and they won’t have made much money from their fee

No. The difference is, I think, that trough / farm etc will be classed as "hazardous" whereas domestic won't be. And will require more strenuous inspection / check valves etc.

I think they will want to see the pipe ends regardless so not much you can do about it
