Did a search, can't find any thread on these:

SO, anyone running a Conor slurry tanker?
Good & bad points would be useful.
What options are essential and what are a waste of time/money?

I thank you

Very popular around here, when we asked our dealer who sells Conor and hi-spec his answer was if you want a hassle free tanker go for hi spec.

Apparently it's hit and miss with the axles on Conor's depending on where they source them at any particular time.

How true this is again I can't verify, but perfectly happy with our hi spec 20 months in.

There's not much to choose between them. Make sure that the Conor exit gate valve is of the bell type rather than the cheaper thin slice type.
Conor will build red tankers if you prefer red to green. Possibly any other colour if you ask.
Both are good steel tubes of similar quality with the inevitable brass and quick attach fittings.

HiSpec will far outlast a Conor. Only slightly more money and much better build quality.
Really? As as I've ever been able to tell they use the same gauge of steel, the same end caps, the same pumps and valves, a slightly different architecture and different paint.
I run two Hi-Spec with which I'm perfectly happy. A neighbour runs a Conor and they are perfectly happy. These aren't exactly taxing things to build and both companies and many others have had plenty of practice at it by now.

Main things to check are having proper bell valves on the outlet. That it does have quick attach fill pipe and that this is positioned where it is convenient for the location and that the axle is strong enough for the size of tanker. Other things that may be important to the individual are the tyre size and tanker stability, whether it has a low or high profile. From what I see, the Conor red paint is probably better than the Hi-Spec red in durability, although I've no complaints about my Hi-Specs. I think all brands go through phases with paint quality and steel preparation for painting.
If doing a lot of road work, the 'Russian' [actually Ukranian on my tankers] 28 and 31" wide floaters are not ideal. They are by far the most popular on 2000 to 2500 gallon tankers around these parts though.

@Cowabunga didnt your hi-spec come with alliance?

These were standard fit on our 2500 (800/63r32) whereas the equivalent Conor came as standard with some dodgy cheap brand.

We are looking for 4000 gallon tandem axle with 8" turbo fill running 710s due to the amount of slurry we generate and this new 35 day cutting regime we are now trying where speed of application post harvest is critical.
I am happy to be pointed at alternatives and good quality used machines

I've got a Conor 2750. First one I've bought, went for autofill, hydraulic vac pump, BKTs. Goes nicely, but the rear hydraulic slide valve is a bit rubbish like the duck says. Too prone not to seal well.

No.
The wheel and tyre combination has to be specified on the order form to HiSpec from a range of options as indicated in the price list. Its up to the dealer and customer which tyres to choose and which they consider most cost effective.
I've yet to see a HiSpec around these parts with anything but the Ukranian tyres up to 2300 gallons. From memory they come and are fitted to various sizes of recessed tankers from 2000 to 2500 in widths of about 21, 28.2x26 [which I have on the 2300 tankers] and 32 inches. I know they have changed recently to offer Alliance radials on the 2500 as the defacto standard choice, but there are relatively few of those around here.

Yes, you really should insist on the bell valves which are relatively trouble free. Having said that, I did have to have a new ram and paddle for one a couple of weeks ago, but they never clog-up at the top with fibre like the slice type.

Abbey tankers sell reasonably well around here too. Abbey and Conor have taken a slice out of the HiSpec share since their gold-chained rep died, poor chap. George something, his name was. Used to sell shedloads to Riverlea at one time.
I'd forgotten that. Poor old George. Lovely chap, always keen for a 'deal' especially if up against another make! Had many chats with him at shows.

I'm based here in the middle of Ireland and so have a good view of what's selling here , Conor have definitely raised their game and are now up with the best of them , their getting very popular here now , seem to be a good company going for the top. I'd have no problem buying a Conor tanker at the minute .
