Conservative leader

I was listening to the BBC R4 PM programme a little while ago and there was mention made of the likely candidates to take over when TM is binned. One of these is Dominic Raab, a very interesting and quite intelligent fellow. When there was the leadership 'scare' following his resignation, a couple of people I know in the central party organisation said that they thought he would be quite popular with many MPs and with the membership - although Boris would be the first choice of many.

I would be quite happy to see him as PM, sharing many views, particularly regarding the EU. But for a general discussion my personal preference is irrelevant. What surprised me, both listening to the BBC and speaking to my chums in London, was that Amber Rudd's name was absent. I don't like her, in fact I dislike her for many reasons - not just in re' Brexit - but, that aside, she is quite capable and I would have thought would be fairly popular with a large chunk of the party and the public.

Setting aside your own preference for a candidate, whether regarding Brexit or politics in general, who do you think will run? In no particular order I guess:

Amber Rudd, Boris Johnson, Dominic Raab, Sajid Javid, Johnny Mercer & Andrea Leadsom.

I don't like Rudd at all.

Savid Javid is an attempt to catch the Asian vote from Labour. Given the damage to communities by Islam I don't think this is wise. But Conservatives may wish to stick two fingers up to those communities who knows - is there anyone left who likes Conservatives ?

Dominic Raab ? I don't know enough about what happened after David Davis. Raab needs to publish what happened IMHO, perhaps he has. I've stopped reading Conservative Home.

Johnny Mercer .. never heard of.

Andrea Leadsom I liked in the Referendum as she was a breath of fresh air. However she seemed of weak character vs Theresa May. Andrea was quite correct to point out Theresa May has no children .. if she had she'd have thought twice before putting their future on the line as she has everyone else.

I like Boris Johnson's character and honour. I think he also takes a strong enough line in his journalism to challenge the extreme Left wing views in the press & within party politics. For example the extreme reaction by some concerning Boris's burka comments - I think the PC Liberals have gone way, way too far and need someone liek Boris to begin reigning them in by the neck.

Jacob Rees Mogg is intelligent, reasonable and of strong character. Knows the difference between his private and personal views. Handles himself well in public even when confronted with adversity. That's who I would prefer from face value.

Dunno .. I've refused to renew my Conservative membership. I can't even tell these days if the "Brexiteers" in the Conservative party are brexiteers.

I dont like Hammond, Dominic Grieve .. I'm sure there are many others just as repulsive.

At the last election Rudd demanded a recount because she had actually lost her seat, on the recount she then won it by less than 100 votes!!

Suffice to say she is not well liked by anyone and in no position to be the PM...

Next PM has to be a brexiter.

What I have noticed the last week is that Gove has gone very quiet on his recent support for May.....................................................well actually he has gone very quiet about anything as a whole.... make of that what you will.

Gove was the Stop Boris plant .. put into the Leave campaign to do damage.

It's either that or he got stuck on the fence as either he was coming or going or perhaps he enjoyed getting stuck .. takes all sorts.

She did well to take Hastings at all.
Pretty left wing over there.

May is one of the worst prime ministers in history . She lies like a trooper and dont answer questions put to her just rambles on like a cracked record . And what she has done to the Irish she should be strung up for
I resent that I have a trooper and yes it did break down once and ever now and then it tells me to check engine but I don't think it has ever lied
