Have a field in second continuous spring wheat and doing a great job on the blackgrass problem. Question is if we carry on would it get take all or is it a bit risky - tia .
Take all won’t be a problem (to reduce what is already a small risk ensure clean stubbles between harvest and establishment of the following spring wheat).Have a field in second continuous spring wheat and doing a great job on the blackgrass problem. I’ve had Take All in second spring wheat before, it’s not a fun experience.Have a field in second continuous spring wheat and doing a great job on the blackgrass problem. Question is if we carry on would it get take all or is it a bit risky - tia .
If you have central storage with a colour sorter and dryer, and don't need the straw, or an early entry for the next crop, it will be fine. All the above are the reasons we no longer grow any. Late drilled winter wheat until late Feb / early March, then Spring barley here. Thanks - remember now that years ago we had ergot in some spring wheat in a damp year - sod that again.
Colour sorters have this problem solved at a reasonable cost. Thanks - remember now that years ago we had ergot in some spring wheat in a damp year - sod that again.
Spring barley goes from not ripe to knackered in 2 days it seems like. Tests my patience. And just looked at contract spring barley which has necked over and loosing ears on the floor, as well as green ears in it. Still got 500 acres milling wheat to combine. Spring wheat looks great and will be ready after the WW.
The thing with barley is you have to cut it raw once its around 20% mc go for it .Spring barley goes from not ripe to knackered in 2 days it seems like. Tests my patience.
