Contractee slowly buying DD-relevant kit

It's easy to get sucked into "shinny machine syndrome" so avoid that road at all costs ( literally ) .
A reliable second hand sprayer is a good starting point, as said previously. Aim for a trailed model rather than mounted, it will be more robust.
Also a good s/h 6 meter rolls is worthwhile to follow a contractor or cover crops. After that you could look at a the light stubble cultivator / slug Pelletier / quad option. If you had all 3 you could do your cover crops, feed slugs, chase contractors !!!
Looking down the road into the future, if I were you I'd be thinking I'd need first hand experience of drilling. Get a used Simtech or a Duncan.
It'll definitely do all your soil types, crops & covers, & you get on the curve . The 7480 will manage it too.

A shallow cultivator you say. Afre we talking the likes of Amazone Katros?
But that will damage structure/create a pan to some extent, right? I can see its advantages in cheaply seeding the CC. Instead would broadcasting from a fert spreader do the job?

Toying with the Weaving GD. It'd have to be new as theres no 2nd hand yet. Its remarkably cheap - comparable to used rival drills. Of course i'd have to invest in a bigger tractor as the 100hp NH7840 aint gonna pull it. Plus I'd want GPS tech [that evryone else seems to have] rather than the Dark Ages!!

Yes,GPS will be a useful tool as you'd need it to find your tramlines if your going to be drilling alternate directions each season..
There's lots of drill choice topics discussed on TFF. all have their merits. It's down to choice & pocket. Personally, given the soils you said you had to work with, I'd be thinking tine rather than disc.
Any sort of cultivator !
The reason to have it is, slug control, weed chit, trash incorporatation & CC soil prep.
A Vibroflex at the cheap end or a Catros if you want to spend !!
