I was a conference once, one thing that stuck in the mind was a picture of a crop of spuds mistakenly sprayed with Thor....
In my case that was the problem the insurance company wouldn't pay for the loss of the next years cropOut of interest why would the pay out need to be 4-5times The value of the crop? Surely only needs to be equivalent to the True value of the crop for everyone to be happy? Doesn’t change the outcome but just curious.
err, I certainly wouldn’t spray 24D or any of its derivatives anywhere near a neighbours cotton crop. Or sunflowers or canola or grain legumes or . . .
In fact, any contractor I know would refuse to do so
And I know my neighbours & “most” of the farming community in this area would be just the same
Back in the 80s there was a hormone chemical for BL plants call Brittox. It was used on cereals in the spring in Essex and due to a type of weather patern over several nights it lifted off the crop and dropped on market garden greenhouses in in the lea valley suffice to say it was withdrawn.
