Convince me to not plough

I suppose its easier for me as I'm not in a rush to get seed back in
But a few things I learnt
Spraying before mowing saves a lot of time and provided you mow low it gives you a nice clean stubble to drill into
If you have more than a bit of dead grass do not drill until you have reduced the amount of dead grass
Up the seed rate
Role after drilling with a heavy roller

The grass seed in put with the bare soil earlier on this thread will come on strong yet. You wait and see.

It's the longevity of leys established under direct drilling that concern me. You can't beat a break crop with a plough involved somewhere. Residual herbicides in the programme may also help.

The first 'modern' attempts at direct drilling didn't have a (safe) total / trans locating herbicide then roundup came along approx.
only 35 yrs ago (for perspective.)
but Yes the future will be undoubtedly different as it always is and we will accept change and adapt like we have always done.

With reference to the The banning of things, Glyphosate will come first possibly, not that that will bother us around here, in the slightest, a mere hiccup in the course of agricultural history...
