is this the correct stage to cut silage

Its on its 6th week of fert

We tend to go for bulk rather than quality but im fed up of buying concentrates!
This year im determined to make better stuff.

Seed head is there and looks fresh

I usually avrage 10 chopped bales per acre i recon its about 7-8 now

Is this possible...??..old mate reckons he got 183 x 500kg bales of a hectare of knight italian ryegrass? Silage bales...thats 90 tonne wet...

I suspect someone had been on some funny tobacco......

Either that, or he'd spent a few days carting bales onto the hectare before he counted them.;)

125kg/Ha of Nitrogen is 100units/acre.

They say allow 2 units/day so that's 50 days after your application.

If you want 3 cuts you need to get your fertiliser on earlier


125 Kg/Ha would be roughly 50 Kg/Ac ? So in my book that would 34.5 units or am I missing something.

Both Milkloss and myself asked the question what product.

Now if it was 125kg of Nitram / Hectare then you would be right 34.5 units / acre.

But if you want 3 good cuts your going to need to use more fertiliser than that.
