I have just priced the steel to refurbish a stream crossing to carry all farm traffic (combine etc). Crossing is 4m wide so have allowed 1m either side: 6m long, 4.5 metres wide, sleepers laid on the universal beams.
Steel is going to cost £2,500 and a further £1,900 to galvanise it. With new concrete, sleepers, labour etc it ain't cheap!! I hear of people using old lorry decks etc - does any one have any alternative suggestions please? I presume proper concrete box culverts will be just as expensive and necessitate a crane etc..... Thanks
