I've had a price to swap my 14 reg 6150r for a 6155r cost to change is scary, roughly £11 per hour that the tractor has covered. Is anybody else thinking the same? Are other manufacturers cost of change like for like the same or are John Deere pricing them selfs out of the market slowly?

That sounds good to me. We are looking at changing a nh t7050 for t7 250 and it's £12/hr to change.

Depends on hours, but £11 per hour doesn't appear to me to be extortionate. What have you depreciated tractor down to on your books?

Put 7000 hours on it and the cost to change for 150hp would be £77,000. That's not scary? If not, I don't know what is.
That's before even thinking about the possible £56,000 of diesel it will have consumed in those hours. Or the £70,000 paid to the steering wheel attendant. Plus an implement, because a tractor without an implement is like an elephant without a trunk.

To be fair we don't know the circumstances. It might have spent the last 3 years swimming around an outdoor pig unit without a service for all we know. Or it could have done 500 hours from new and be immaculate. Both scenarios would make the £11/ hour to change more acceptable. Or it might just be the cost of running new tractors these days.

Unlikely that a 14 Reg tractor has done 7000 hours.

Second hand has got a lot of catching up to do imo. Can't keep on raising new price without the second hand price following sooner or later. Could i ask how does the value of the tractor compare with the price you paid for it new? If I understand your original post are you comparing cost to change with hours of tractor rather than the current value of your tractor against hours.

That said my last one cost just under £8per clock hour, there is a lot of variables but it's just crazy when you see some of these high hp tractors costing more than a house!!!

Biggish contractor I know runs solely Deere's and he gets his ownership at £6/hour. The dealer knows that if they keep his cost at that he'll change the whole fleet every 3 years after 4500 hours.

trouble is I think mentality needs to shift over what hours to change at - 3 yrs / 3000 is expensive now brand regardless, we need to be looking at the 5 yr 5000 hr window now IMO to keep these costs down
Yep, I'm planning on 5yr / 5000 hr, both Tractors have warranties to that effect ...

We run masseys and that is how we view it. Will probably take them to 6000hrs though. Depreciation will have leveled off and the tractors (if looked after) will still look smart and run well.

On full warranty for 5000 of those hours and will be owned by then. Should still hold a reasonable value... Or am I dreaming!?
