How many counties can be seen from either on the farm, or close by?
Just 100yds up the road, I am in Gtr Mcr, but can see, Lancs as far as Winter Hill, West Yorks as far as Hemley Moor, Derbyshire, not sure which hills they are, all of Gtr Mcr, Cheshire over toward Joddrel Bank, Merseyside and the North Welsh Mountains.

Who can beat that view?

Hills?!
I'm in Lincolnshire! What are hills?!

I'm only about 5 miles from Nottinghamshire - but definitely can't see it! (y)

On a clear day I can see the White Horse on Sutton Bank, about 25-30 miles from me....but that's still North Yorkshire! :geek:

I can see Tenby (to the South) and the Preseli Hills (which separate Pembrokeshire from FT up in Cardiganshire) to the North.

On a clear day. When it's raining I can't see anything.

You say that pig man, but I always laugh at the fact lincolnshire is famously flat, yet Lincoln city has that yarken great bloody hill right in the middle of it! Then you go and stick a nice resturant at the top of the damn thing, and a lap dancers at the bottom, thus forcing me to walk up and down it every time I'm there!!!

Depends what you consider close. From the top of the nearest hill a mile and a half way, and in the 1700's part of the estate (they owned all the land in between) but was sold off over the years.

From the top Frenni Fawr 395M you can see Breconshire, Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire, Glamorganshire, and Pembrokeshire on any dry day.

When cloud cover is not too low looking north, you can make out and identify Bardsey Island the Lleyn Peninsula and Snowdon in Caernarfonshire, Cader Idris in Meirionethshire, and Arran Fawddwy in Montgomeryshire.

Looking South you see across the Bristol Channel, Somerset and Devon I believe using a compass.

Just before the sun rises, looking East and North east, you can see the silhouette of mountains and hills in the far distance. One of these is said to be the hill above Blaenavon in Monmouthshire, and others are said to be in Radnorshire and Denbighshire.

Out of the 13 historic welsh counties, the only two that definitely cannot be seen are Anglsey and Flintshire.

Looking Westwards "at the gloaming of the day", when conditions are right, you can the hills of Eire silhouetted in the afterglow. Definitely the Wicklow Hills, and also further south. Which may represent several other Irish Counties.

The only place in Wales that you can see more counties from, is the top of Snowdon I am told.
