It is thought the pigs in NZ are descendants of those released by Captain Cook, although looking at some pictures of them, they seem to be a mix of domesticated gone wild pigs and Wild Boar. Wild Boar do not pass TB on - they just store it in glands around their necks and oddly, it does not seem to affect them. Maybe some research is needed here...

I know it may have been tongue in cheek and I normally do not comment on these threads but what a load of bollax. Most would have done well with half the get up and go of MB.

I am no expert of course but friends in Spain tell me that wild boar there are their wildlife vector. If you want to clear TB in your deer you need to sort out the wild boar too. Boar are to deer, the same as badgers to cattle.

Same in France. the major (forêt de Brotonne) TB outbreak in 2001 they took all the deer out and the majority of the boar and cleared it up by 2006.
