Don't get me wrong - I'm not against council farms. If there were some around here, my name would be on the waiting list. You can't argue with sound business ethic, though.

The real issue here is that the councillors guaranteed that no one would lose their farm before the vote was taken.

Further investment requires investment, though - where will that come from? Schools? NHS? Two institutions that benefit everyone, not a few individuals (and potentially the council years, possibly decades, down the line).

Further investment requires investment, though - where will that come from? Schools? NHS? Two institutions that benefit everyone, not a few individuals (and potentially the council years, possibly decades, down the line).

What investment is required? The tenant built all the buildings anyway.
The council have made 1000 % capital gain in 10yrs plus the rent, what more could you ask for?
Are any of the councillors property developers?

I'm sure if the same as vale of Glamorgan the sitting tenants had first chance at very favourable prices with constraints on selling within certain times and uplift charges put some people on their feet
