Country getting close to anarchy??

I do hope not, the police are taking everything to extremes, and some sections of the population have long memories, Borris may wish to be Churchillian, but that man turned the army out to break a strike, we already have vigilante groups rearing their heads, a clash between the army and one of those would be serious indeed
People talk and act big, some of these types that are angry won't take on the army they will run scared back home.

oh how I long for the days when queen and country meant something and I whilst still respecting others could say think and do more or less as I thought and the powers that be wether institutional or press etc protected my rights and those who didnt agree with me had the same freedoms. We have lost so much and this situation could well mean we loose more

Uk soldiers havent been on the uk streets with guns in decades since Northern Ireland and the troubles, no one wants uk army shooting its own people in peace time, the tabloids would have a field day if someone in London was shot by a British soldier.
That could lead to a street gang war, all the gangs would be vying with each other to gain credence for beating an army patrol, and just imagine if a weapon was stolen from the patrol!

The British Army carried out armed patrols (and other operations) in support of the RUC/PSNI until 2007.

In 2003 soldiers were deployed across the UK in response to specific intelligence that terrorists were going to use a missile against a plane at an airport.

Operation Temperer had troops in the streets in 2017, after the Ariana Grande bomb. It happens more than most folks realise.

No prime minster of the uk wants to be remembered for giving military orders to use live ammunition in city like London the uk isn't at war.
quite right, but Churchill did similar either before or after ww1, though he was not PM. Cant remember much about it,long time ago I read an article.

I know he deployed troops to South Wales against striking miners, possibly in the 1920’s?
Not 100% sure of the finer details, but contrary to the hero status he enjoyed in most of the UK, he certainly wasn’t popular in the valleys; and I would guess that he still ain’t.

Doesn’t even need to be live ammo. Baton rounds have yet to be used on the UK mainland...

The military can get rather carried away with such things. During a public order incident in former Yugoslavia an armoured company commander gave the order to use baton rounds. He forgot to give the order to stop using baton rounds. At the end of the incident the company had fired over 20 ???

The police are getting carried away already, I believe there are strict controls on the flying of drones near people, unless it seems you wear a blue uniform! You cant stand closer than six feet to someone, unless you are issuing a fine because you dont consider the receipiants journey to have been essential!

There are probably more guns out there then people realise. I once stopped to help at an accident on the M6, nobody was injured thank goodness but I later found out that the car boot was full of guns destined for a drug gang in Birmingham.

The prospect of Inner city warfare must be an absolute nightmare for any government, will they really turn out troops to enforce a curfew? Have they the manpower to try it anyway? Does the current situation of the virus taking out mainly the elderly and ill justify such a move? Will victims of police/army shootings be considerd part of the covid death toll? How does one distinguish between a 'bad person' breaking the rules and desperate people wanting escape from danger at home? It's all very well indulging in an armchair blood lust but there are no simple answers or decisions.

Sad thing is criminal gangs will be selling things like food and medicine on the black market during this crisis
