Yep. I’ve confirmed with the manufacturer that’s it’s eligible and meets the full spec.

I’m slightly confused.......easily done!!

So I apply for an item that they say is worth £7k.

I do the research and find said item for £5k that ticks all the boxes and is eligible.

Do I get 40% of £7k or £5k??

I think it's all to do with european funding. Contractors won't have an sbi.
Farmers weekly say this will change next year when we have control.

I applied for a gps and was told i am not eligible , a nearby farmer got gps and uses it for his contracting . Not really a level playing field , as he is chasing the same work as me .

It's because it is farmer's money. The EU give each country an amount, the English government top slice an amount off to pay for these schemes rather than give it as part of SBP(SFP). So you don't get any because you don't get any sub. The only way to get the money is to have a farm and claim sub.

Know of plenty of farmers who have bought under the grant for their contractors. Some farmers are also contracting using their grant aided equipment!

I didn't say it was right, but that's how I understand the rationale.

Perhaps those contractors should get a rebated amount pro rate to the amount of contacting they do checked via turnover?

Well that’s the advice they give, and given that we have already had 2 rounds of grants where we’ve seen some items with long lead times I think it would make sense
