Countryside Productivity Small Grant scheme rejection

We have just had our application rejected because our choice of crush did not meet the spec.

The crush must be specially designed primarily for foot trimming. With an internal width of at least 720mm, the crush will have a head yoke, rotating rump bar. The crush will be fully galvanised or powder coated. Painted crushes are not eligible.

This specifically does not say it which plane the rump bar must rotate. This crush does have a rump bar which clearly rotates in from the side plane behind the cow. If the spec had specified that the rump bar rotated down form above we obviously would not have chosen this crush, but it does not.

Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone had this crush design (Comfort care M series) accepted?

We are finding it a brilliant crush, very safe and easy to use, but it is going to be rather painful loosing the whole grant including the grant for quite a few other items.

I've got one where RPA are being sticky : they don't understand their own words in the spec

I also heard someone today got rejected as they'd applied for a cattle head scoop but as this was already fitted on said crush it was disallowed

That’s probably right about the head scoop as it did say in the application if the item applied for covered more than one aspect then you had to decide which one to apply for. I had the same thought to apply for both but after reading the print again decided to choose to apply for the crush.

We were contacted a month ago on a Saturday asking if we had done it and wanted to make a claim !
Just finished our vario speed vac pump and milk pump today !
What a difference it is!

After 5 years I've just taken out my vari speed milk pump..
Why?
I considered one for the parlour upgrade we’re doing atm, but couldn’t get the economics to stack up unless it’s a 24 milking operation. Installed a larger conventional pump that was 6 months old.

Know of a farmer who has had his grant claim for a direct drill thrown out. Apparently a Mazuri doesn’t meet their criteria for a Direct Drill.

Partly because I was always a bit nervous that none of the local parlour companies had any idea how a vsd works or how to fix one. They all used outside contractors and they didn't have an on call service.

But mostly because they couldn't rig the plate cooler up off a solenoid with a vsd. I used to be able to leave a bit of water running through the plate cooler all milking, now I have a massive amount just for a few seconds when the pump is running and the milk is hitting the tank at 11 C not 17C.

Ring them up. I was rejected based on a few crush related things a few years ago. I rang them up and explained and they released the money (it was a faf though)

Looks a good crush either way. Is the rear winder one bar or 2?

It does look as though it is a door with a fixed rump rail attached though.
Rotating rump rails start above the cow and are brought down into an individualized position.

Ultra picky to potentially lose the whole grant though. Is there no appeal process?

I am talking to them and I can appeal but if they uphold the decision then I will definitely loose the grant on the other items as well. The seller believed it would meet the grant spec and he tells me others have bought the same crush on the scheme. I was hoping someone who has might see this and pass on their experiences
