Cover crop graze or plough in

Its oat mustard oil raddish ,and some stubble turnips ,which is better flail off plough in , or eat it off and have a bit of money ,
will go take a pic of it later ,its a good thick crop ,coming beet ,
stubble turnip grazing man does not want it as not near other fields and ,costnof moving sheep , and he reckons no feed in cover crop
with this and another field of raddish ,which is quite leafy as not too tall around 60 acre , ,
maybe easier to flail and plough it down ,
what feed value Versus fert value , And any monerty gain ,

Christ what a bloody waste.

So which is the best option financially? Have someone eat it off and leave some poo then avoid the cost of ploughing and just disc it? Or run a 200hp tractor burning 20 litres of fuel an hour to top then plough? I'm a bit surprised that at the end of January you don't have a plan when you are going to be on drilling soon.
The plan was burn it off , ld subsoiler where beet rows will be , direct drill beet into it.its had chicken muck and most of base fert ,so just be in with drill as its a nice field ,did one like it last year , neighbour who likes to plough and germinator it to dust , said it would never work , pulled 90 ton ha ,off that 10 ha block ,
question is , is the greenery better in the land ,
how much will sheep take off on their backs ,and the bit you get for grazing , compared to putting it back into the soil ,

I’m surprised your sheep man won’t bother with a 60 acre block? We graze all that sort of stuff off for folk. Don’t pay as much as grass too offset the slower growth rates but it’s alright. The spots we go too reckon the crop is far more good once it’s been through a sheep. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Shame you’re too far away! 😂

On that basis sheep shouldn't be paying anything. Try convincing arable landowners of that though...

I tried the argument that giving it me for nothing therefore saving you £xx an acre too spray and flail before diving in with the min till. So that means I’m in essence paying you that £xx.

it didn’t work… 😂😂

I know who his sheep man is though, probably got enough to do with out moving a lorry load of lambs of a couple of weeks grazing.

A mate been approached by someone. Typically didn’t think of me first.
I’m paying exactly the same rate as last year. Then we will see how the hogg trade is come spring. If trade is good then we’ll have a divvy up and give them more. If I’m having a beating next spring then they take what I can give and that’s it. But all grown for me by long term keep men. None of them after my last shilling, just a decent do and the added fertility
