Cover Crops

Looking at putting in a cover crop before potatoes. What mixes are you using and why?

Anything that could act as a fumigant against PCN would be a useful addition!

Has anyone tried growing there own radish shed????

What are the legalities around growing and fss of cover crops???

I've just been weighing up how much class 2 BCN radish I need for 20 ha which is going into beet and at the recommended seed rate it's going to cost over a £1000 or roughly 2 lorry loads of beet.

I'm sure I could grow an acre a lot cheaper than that, I assume it would be simular to grow to spring rape.

There are certain varieties of radish & mustard that act as biofumigants. If you want a trap crop, try sticky nightshade - Gs were trying it for a while though it seems to have gone quiet now. @Woodlander ?

There are several different options available which act as bio-fumigants or trap crops, but I must admit this is not an area I'm over familiar with. The report below may be of some use.
