Covering Silage Clamps

What are you using to put on top of uncovered/outdoor grass silage clamps ?
Looking to make a clamp which may be a one off, cover with cling film type plastic with black sheet on top, the question is what next as a cost effective cover/ weight.
We do not have a supply of tyres.
Any advice welcomed

Any beet growers near you that you could use beet sheets? They work really well and are heavier than the green gale breaker stuff. Gravel bags are an option but timely and not cheap, muck a possibility?

My neighbour uses mag lime scatters it on double black sheet with loadall a couple of metres at a time

sounds a good idea, do the seeds have a purpose or use once they grow?

When your feeding out the seeds have grown a good root mass and used most of the shitty part of the muck so you can just grab the grass or corn and pull it off in biggish chunks

Talking of carpets, a friend uses old Astro Turf in rolls for cow tracks in about 3 metre wide rolls.
Surely this would make a good top to black sheet, it would roll out and up, would protect the plastic sheet and be heavy enough to help seal top. Has anyone tried it or can you see reasons why not ?

I tried it on maize works well but it’s really heavy I cut into 1m x1.5m matts still too heavy,I think something like this is the future
